Curiosity Wins - Weasel

During a quiet lunch on a little bridge, something suddenly caught my eye. When I turned around, it had already disappeared. Too late. At least, that's what I thought. A few seconds later, the same stoat reappeared among the reeds. Cautious, alert, but above all curious. After every click of the camera, it would dart away again. And yet, its curiosity always won out. Time and again, it came back to see what exactly was going on. That is precisely what makes this photo so special. It is not an image of a predator on the hunt or an animal fleeing from danger. It shows one of the smallest predators in the Netherlands as you rarely experience it: inquisitive, stubborn, and almost fearless. As if for a moment it decided that you were at least as interesting as it was to you. The frame of reeds and wooden planks places the stoat right in the middle of its natural habitat and enhances the feeling that you are part of this encounter yourself. Its direct gaze immediately catches the eye and makes you stop and look every time. A photo that not only shows the beauty of nature, but also the character hidden within it. Playful, curious, and full of life. A work of art that tells a story and brings a smile every time.
